Porto 2024

Our Three-Day City Break in Porto in February: A Journey Filled with Architecture, History, and Relaxed Moments. Deciding to visit Porto in February, I anticipated experiencing a city full of history, architecture, and charm. However, what we hadn't expected was the warm atmosphere and welcoming nature of the city, which made our stay an unforgettable experience.

Day 1: Arrival and Initial Explorations.

After a short drive from the airport to the city center, I was immediately enchanted by Porto's picturesque backdrop. Our accommodation, a cozy apartment in the heart of the old town, provided the perfect base for our adventures. We began our exploration with a walk through the cobbled streets of the old town, where I was captivated by the colorful houses and historic buildings. Following a break at a local café, we ventured across the famous Dom Luís I Bridge, soaking in the panoramic views over the Douro River. The evening concluded with a leisurely wander through the Ribeira district, where we fell in love with the lively atmosphere.

Day 2: Immersing in Culture and Indulgence

The next day we got deeper into Porto’s rich culture and history by visiting the impressive Soares dos Reis Museum. It is a fascinating exhibit and the artworks provided us with insights into the city’s past and present.

We than ventured into the riverside wine cellars to sample the famous Port wines. :-) The tasting was a highlight of our trip, and I relished in discovering the various flavors and nuances.

Day 3: Relaxation by the Sea and Culinary Delights

Our final day in Porto began with a leisurely morning at a wonderful cozy café, where we had a delicious breakfast. We then made our way to one of the nearby beaches, where we enjoyed the mild February sun.

In the evening, we concluded our journey with a culinary highlight, indulging in traditional Portuguese dishes at a local restaurant.

Our three-day city break in Porto was a journey filled with wonderful moments and encounters. From the breathtaking architecture to the warm-hearted people and relaxed atmosphere, Porto touched me and found a place in my heart.
