Costa Rica 2024

Costa Rica is like a nature lover's dream come true! :-)

"Pura Vida"

We discovered the country two weeks by rental car and it was an adventure and a wonderful trip.

Landscape - the country's national parks are really a treasure of natural wonders, offering opportunities for hiking, wildlife spotting, and discovering hidden waterfalls. With every step we were immersed in the sights and sounds of the rainforest, creating memories that will last. :-)

Wildlife – it's like living in a nature documentary! From the leisurely sloths lounging in the treetops to the vibrant parrots soaring overhead, each sighting is a testament to the country's rich biodiversity.

People - the warmth and hospitality of the locals further enhanced our experience. They really made us feel welcome!

We visited five national parks on our trip and it was awesome. :-)

Tenorio National Park, where we were captivated by the stunning waterfalls and the heavenly blue Rio Celeste. Exploring the park’s hiking trails led us to breathtaking viewpoints and the fascinating phenomenon of mineral deposits, which give the river its characteristic color. We stayed in La Fortuna surrounded by lush tropical greenery and offering panoramic views of the towering Arenal Volcano. Each morning, we woke up to the soothing sounds of nature and the sight of the sun rising over the volcano, painting the sky with hues of orange and pink.

Monteverde Cloud Forest, was my favorite and a true paradise for nature enthusiasts. Amongst dense cloud forests and hanging bridges, we discovered an incredible diversity of plants and animals, including rare bird species like the lively Quetzal.

Carara National Park was our next destination, where we embarked on a quest to spot exotic wildlife. Amongst dense tree canopies and lush vegetation, we encountered monkeys, frogs, and a variety of exotic birds that call this rainforest home.

Manuel Antonio National Park, we were greeted by endless beaches, clear waters, and another wide range of wildlife. We hiked through dense forests, observed capuchin monkeys, sloths, and even iguanas. The beaches are wonderful, too.

Finally, our journey concluded at Irazú National Park, where we drove up to one of Costa Rica’s highest volcanoes. From its summit, we enjoyed breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape, including the shimmering crater lake and the surrounding valleys.

Each of these national parks offered us an unforgettable experience, allowing us to appreciate the diversity and beauty of Costa Rica’s nature. From lush rainforests to imposing volcanoes, the memories of this trip will remain in our hearts. :-)

Another highlight of our time was visiting the wonderful Orosi Valley. We loved the breathtaking landscapes and coffee plantations. The sun rise and sun set behind the mountains gives a golden glow over the village and you feel grateful for the opportunity to experience the peaceful charm of Orosi village. The quaint churches and historic buildings added to the village’s old-world charm, while the friendly locals welcomed us with warm smiles and hospitality.

Another highlight in the Orosi Valley was exploring a coffee plantation. José gave us a wonderful tour that offered insights into the cultivation and production of the country's world-class coffee.
